🌊 World Oceans Day – June 8

World Oceans Day is celebrated every year on 8 June to recognise the importance of our oceans and seas.

The world's oceans cover around 71% of the Earth's surface and produce roughly half of the oxygen we breathe. They help regulate our climate, provide food for billions of people, support wildlife, and give us places to relax, explore and enjoy.

From tiny plankton to the mighty blue whale, the oceans are home to an astonishing variety of life. They have inspired explorers, sailors, fishermen, artists, writers, filmmakers and musicians throughout history.

Today is an opportunity to celebrate the beauty, wonder and importance of our oceans, while also considering how we can help protect them for future generations.
