A New Chapter for Simon’s Dementia Activities

Dear friends and subscribers,
I wanted to write to you personally to let you know about an important change to my websites - and, I hope, the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
After a lot of thought, I have decided that I will no longer be adding new posts to SimonDementia.co.uk or CST Song of the Day. Both websites will remain available for the time being, so you can continue to access the activities, songs and resources already there. I intend to keep them online until their next renewal payments become due.
This wasn’t a decision I made lightly. SimonDementia.co.uk has been the home of so much of my work, and I’m enormously grateful to everyone who has visited, subscribed, downloaded an activity, shared a page or simply sent me an encouraging message. However, engagement with the site has tailed off significantly, and it increasingly felt as though it was time for a refresh.
CST Song of the Day was an idea I loved, but it never really took off in the way I had hoped. Perhaps the initials CST in the title were a little off-putting or confusing to people unfamiliar with Cognitive Stimulation Therapy. Perhaps having my music activities on a completely separate website simply made things more complicated than they needed to be.
Whatever the reason, maintaining several different websites was beginning to spread both the resources - and me! - rather thinly.
So rather than stopping, I’m simplifying.
I have relaunched everything with a cleaner, fresher and much more straightforward home:
Simon’s Dementia Activities brings my work together in one place. There will be reminiscence, quizzes, conversation activities, music, creativity, practical activities and plenty of new ideas - all designed to stimulate memories, encourage conversation and, most importantly, provide opportunities to enjoy time together.
The principles behind what I do haven't changed.
My dementia activities will continue to be free and open access. I don't want cost to be a barrier to somebody living with dementia, a family member, friend, care partner or activity coordinator finding something that might brighten their day.
If you've enjoyed following my work, I would therefore be delighted if you would subscribe again at the new Simon’s Dementia Activities website. Unfortunately, subscriptions don't automatically move with me, so joining me at the new site really will make a difference.
And I have one small favour to ask.
Keeping websites running and producing new resources costs money. If my activities have been useful to you, when you resubscribe perhaps you might consider buying me a coffee at:
There is absolutely no obligation. The activities remain free whether you donate or not. But every coffee helps towards the costs of keeping the websites running and allows me to continue creating and sharing new resources freely with everyone who might benefit from them.
Most of all, thank you.
Thank you for subscribing. Thank you for using my activities. Thank you for sharing them with others. And thank you for supporting this slightly mad retirement project of mine as it has grown and changed!
This isn't goodbye. Far from it.
It's simply a change of address — and a fresh start.
I very much hope you'll come with me.
With my warmest wishes and thanks,
Simon
