I hope you enjoy this Dementia Cafe Quiz. It's pretty self-explanatory and focuses on an African safari. Before starting discuss with members:


- who has been on a safari?

- if so what was it like?

- who would like to go on one?


Have a think about what you would need to take or have with you?

  • Passport, travel documents, and insurance papers

  • Vaccination certificate (e.g. Yellow Fever if required)

  • Local currency / credit card

  • Safari itinerary & contact details

(Choose neutral colours like khaki, olive, beige, brown – avoid white and bright colours)

  • Lightweight long-sleeved shirts (sun & insect protection)

  • T-shirts and vests

  • Light cotton trousers or cargo pants

  • Safari shorts

  • Fleece or light jumper (cool mornings/evenings)

  • Light waterproof jacket or poncho

  • Wide-brimmed hat or cap

  • Comfortable walking shoes or boots

  • Sandals for camp

  • Swimwear (for lodge pools)

  • Sleepwear and underwear

  • Socks (breathable, quick-dry)

  • Sunglasses (polarized if possible)

  • High-factor sunscreen (SPF 30–50)

  • Lip balm with SPF

  • Insect repellent (DEET-based or natural alternative)

  • After-bite or soothing lotion

  • Binoculars (8x or 10x magnification)

  • Notebook & pen

  • Lightweight daypack

  • Zip-lock bags for dust & protection

Of course, you would also need a guide and a protected jeep or similar vehicle. Game keepers are also an essential feature to protect from poachers. An aerial view in a hot air balloon would also be great, as long as it doesn't land in a lion's den!!
