'National Smile Day' is celebrated annually on May 31st. It is a day to encourage everyone to smile and recognise the positive impact of a smile on oneself and others. The day also marks the beginning of 'National Smile Month', a month-long campaign to promote oral health awareness.

Here's a more detailed look:

  • Date: May 31st.

  • Purpose: To celebrate the power of smiles and their positive effects on well-being, confidence, and mental health.

  • Related event: 'National Smile Day' is the first day of 'National Smile Month', a month-long campaign dedicated to promoting oral hygiene and dental health.

  • How to celebrate: Encourage smiles, spread cheer, and use a smiley face emoji.

  • Benefits: Smiling is known to reduce stress, improve mood, and strengthen relationships.

The idea of this CST activity is to celebrate 'National Smile Day' with music and laughter. To begin there is a play list of songs - members could either to play a 'Guess That Tune' game, listening to short clips and guessing the song and who or which group is singing, or they could vote to choose their top three happiest songs to play for 'National Smile Day'.

You could begin by asking members to share their happiest memory ever. Perhaps care partners could be asked to bring a photo in to help with story telling ...

Spotify Playlist ...

Next, you could read a few of these jokes out and see which ones get the best laugh ...

Next, can this song actually make people laugh?

How about this one ...

Next you could play some classic comedy clips ...

Here's my You Tube compilation ...

And finally, here is my favourite happy song ...
