🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day! – 250 Years of American Independence (4 July 1776–2026)

Welcome to today's special Simon's CST Activities celebration marking the 250th Anniversary of American Independence.

Whether you've visited the United States, have family there, love its music, films and television, or simply enjoy learning about different countries, today's activities are designed to stimulate memories, encourage conversation, and have a little fun along the way.

We'll begin by looking back at the historic timeline of the United States before listening to Whitney Houston's unforgettable performance of The Star-Spangled Banner. We'll then talk about America, exploring its people, landscapes, traditions and worldwide influence.

Test your knowledge with our US States Quiz, travel along the legendary Route 66, and enjoy songs that have become part of America's musical heritage, including Trail of the Lonesome Pine, Route 66, Let's Call the Whole Thing Off, and a special singalong featuring ten classic songs celebrating American places and people.

There are plenty of quizzes and reminiscence activities too. Can you identify the Essential American Movies and Essential American TV Shows? How many American foods and drinks can you remember? Do you know the different American and British words for everyday objects?

Most importantly, take time to share your own memories. Have you ever visited America? Which city or state would you most like to see? Which American film, television programme, singer or song has stayed with you over the years? Every memory and conversation helps make today's celebration special.

So sit back, relax, sing along, join in the quizzes, and let's celebrate 250 years of American history, culture, music and memories together.

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸
