Step back in time and join us for a special VE Day Wartime Music Singalong, commemorating the 81st anniversary of Victory in Europe Day - 8th May 1945.

Together we’ll remember the courage, resilience and community spirit of the wartime generation through a wonderful collection of classic songs that helped lift morale during World War II. From rousing marching favourites and music hall classics to heartfelt ballads and nostalgic singalongs, these timeless songs encouraged hope, unity and determination in Britain’s darkest hours.

Interspersed throughout the session will be powerful extracts from some of the most famous speeches of the Second World War, including stirring words from Winston Churchill, royal broadcasts from King George VI and Princess Elizabeth and Margaret, and touching messages to the nation that helped inspire people through the Blitz, evacuation and eventual victory. Hearing these historic voices alongside the music helps bring the atmosphere and emotions of wartime Britain vividly back to life.

This uplifting reminiscence session encourages singing together, shared memories, conversation and reflection - celebrating not only the end of the war in Europe, but also the bravery, sacrifice and community spirit of those who lived through it.

A wonderful opportunity to sing along, remember together, and keep these important memories alive for future generations. 🇬🇧🎶

Below is the running format of the songs and speeches in the format of a programme. The idea is that you print off the pages, put them together as a gatefold leaflet handout for members and then watch the YouTube video together. Here it is ...
