'Eurovision Song Contest' 🇪🇺 13th May

As we all know, Ukraine won the 'Eurovision Song Contest' last year, beating UK's Sam Ryder into second place. However, due to the war with Russia, Liverpool is to host this year's song contest on behalf of Ukraine.

This CST activities page focuses both on Liverpool and the 'Eurovision Song Contest'. It celebrates some of the best things to come out of Liverpool and some of the best Eurovision acts. I hope your group has fun with it. Feedback would be great.

Start the session with these questions to stimulate reminiscence and discussion ...

Who watches the 'Eurovision Song Contest' every year? Does anyone keep score (nil points)?

What is the best or most memorable act you can think of?

What is the best (or your favourite) song to come out of Eurovision?

Thinking of the wider European community, what is your favourite European city or country?

Which European tourist destination (or somewhere off the beaten track) would you recommend a friend to visit?

At this point you could ask why people think Israel and Australia take part in the 'Eurovision Song Contest'?

(Israel is within the 'European Broadcasting Community' & Australia was allowed a place to commemorate the 60th contest (and decided to stay).
